Farewell Sage – Hello Google Reader

“I’ve tallied up all your favorites, and allowed people to vote for multiple news readers if they used them that way. The top vote-getter was Google Reader , followed by Sage for the Firefox browser. Why did Google Reader win out? Many folks mentioned the ease of use, the simple interface, and the fact that it’s web-based so it’s accessible from any Internet-connected computer.”

Well kids, its goodnight to Sage as my RSS reader. I use Google Reader exclusively now.. farewell old friend..

Kramnik vs Fritz 10 – Nov 06

An interesting quote from Kramnik on the Fritz Man vs Machine match. I wonder how true it will be, time will tell…

“The day will come when we will no longer have a chance against computers. If I indeed manage to beat Fritz in this match it will probably be the last time that a human being wins against a computer.” – Vladimir Kramnik

“Revolution is a word that’s often thrown around with little thought in high tech circles, but this one looks real. Wired News has a comprehensive report on computer scientists’ efforts to adapt graphics processors for high performance computing. The goal for these Nvidia and ATI chips is to tackle non-graphics related number crunching for complex scientific calculations. Nvidia announced this week along with its new wicked fast GeForce 8800 release the first C-Compiler environment for the GPU; Wired reports that ATI is planning to release at lease some of its proprietary code to the public domain to spur non-graphics related development of its technology. Meanwhile, lab results are showing some amazing comparisons between CPU and GPU performance. Stanford’s distributed computing project Foldering@Home launched a GPU beta last month that is now publishing data putting donated GPU performance at 20-40 times the efficiency of donated CPU performance.”
