Greatest Computer XiangQi battle yet

Masters of Chinese chessimage are to face the ultimate challenge later this
year when they battle it out against a team of robots, the Chinese
Society of Artificial Intelligence said on Thursday.

Five masters of Xiangqi, which is called Chinese chessimage in the West,
would take on a robot team in the July 25-31 competition, the first of
its kind, the official Xinhua news agency said, quoting the society.

The competition, sponsored by the society and three universities, would
be followed by the country’s first exhibition on artificial
intelligence products and achievements in August, the report said.

Xiangqi, meaning “figure game,” is similar to Western chessimage but
features pieces inscribed with Chinese symbols representing generals,
advisors, elephants, horses, chariots, cannons, and soldiers.

The game ends when one player successfully checkmates the other by cornering the opposing general. del.icio.us:Greatest Computer XiangQi battle yet digg:Greatest Computer XiangQi battle yet
